Adolescents learn more about the job market from volunteers
“World of Professions” is one of the Nissan Institute’s most successful projects. Through it, it is possible to inspire, encourage, share and extend horizons for numerous possibilities. Accordingly, on August 23 and 24, the Volunteers of Value group in São Paulo held another edition of career talks at Nissan’s office in the city. The audience was composed of adolescents who do activities at NGO Gotas de Flor com Amor.
Over the course of three hours, the students were first given an overview of Nissan and they then learned a little more about some of the company’s different areas (Finance, Customer Service and After-Sales). The first day’s talks were for younger adolescents (13 to 15 years old), and the second day was for older ones (15 to 19), who are also studying the job market at the NGO. All the talks were given by volunteers.
“This visit was very interesting and certainly enriching for both groups. The availability of the professionals and the way the conversation was directed were great, sparking new interests while providing knowledge needed to improve the students’ life opportunities”. (Maria Casarin, education coordinator at Gotas de Flor com Amor)
At the end of the talks, the students could leave anonymous comments about what they thought. Here are some of them:
• “I learned new things and this will be very good for my life”.
• “I thought the talk by Thiago and Joyce was the most interesting one, as they taught us that we shouldn’t give up”.
• “The talks today impacted my life, as the speakers didn’t give up on their dreams and that’s very good in my view”.
• “It was all really great and gave me some knowledge”.
