Volunteers hold second monthly birthday party for elderly people
April 30 was dedicated to manicures, skin moisturizing, donations of winter clothes and ensuring a fun time for around 40 elderly residents of the Nicolino Gulhot rest home in Resende. Every month, the Nissan Institute’s Volunteers of Value group is looking for a different way to bring together visitors and residents to celebrate the month’s birthday boys and girls. This edition, an “Afternoon of Beauty” generated a lot of laughs and affection among the participants.
“The event is much more than singing Happy Birthday and eating a cake. All these elderly folk need is affection, attention and someone to talk to.” (Viviani Estasi, Volunteer of Value)
In addition to skincare and manicures, the residents were given hats, caps, scarves and necklaces to keep them warm and elegant in the coming winter. For the next meeting, to be held on May 28, the volunteers are already collecting canvases for an afternoon of art and painting.
