Youth supported by NGO Gol de Letra hear about job market

Nissan Institute employees share their experiences with young people
Last week, around 30 vocational training course students from Fundação Gol de Letra’s Youth and Opportunity Program took part in a discussion with Nissan Institute employees to learn about and debate subjects related to the job market. The event, called Opportunities in Action, was held at the NGO’s main office in Caju, on Rio de Janeiro’s north side.
This Fundação Gol de Letra initiative is designed to prepare students for the job market through workshops that explore topics such as emotional intelligence, job search tips, how to write a good resume, and workers’ social security and legal rights.
Nathália Batalha, an administrative assistant at the Nissan Institute, talked about opportunities and described her experience as a student and former athlete, her academic education choices and her challenges at Nissan. “Opportunities arise but we mustn’t sit around waiting for them to appear. They do eventually arrive, but you need to pursue them,” she advised.
Batalha shared her experience in the job market with the students and took questions and comments from them about selection processes and vocational training.
“We mustn’t let opportunities pass by, not least so we can discover what we want to do and be professionally. Selection processes are difficult, and as competent as we may be at what we do, it is important to bear in mind that being selected for a position depends on the profile and how you present yourself in an interview,” said Leilany Santos, a social responsibility analyst who also participated in the meeting and shared her experience.
