Eye health project conducts screening at two schools
After a year providing services at Nissan’s plant in the municipality of Resende, the “How do you see the world?” project returned to the town to visit two more public schools. Screening was carried out at the Vicentino and Assis Barboza municipal schools from August 15 to 18, covering 464 children, teachers and employees.
“The school warmly welcomed the project. Some of our students were finding it very hard to see things on the board and this work has helped a lot. We’ve been able to identify many children with eyesight problems”. (Raquel Ferreira, principal of Vicentino Municipal School)
Out of all the people screened, 251 with suspected vision problems were identified. They will be referred to ophthalmologists, who will examine them at their school on September 12 and 13. If the need to wear glasses is confirmed, they will be made and delivered by the Nissan Institute and partner NGO Instituto Ver e Viver in October.
