Fundação Gol de Letra presents 9th edition of Gol de Letrinhas
Non-governmental organization Fundação Gol de Letra recently opened its doors to launch the book “Gol de Letrinhas 9 – Qual o seu lugar no mundo?” (“What is your place in the world?”) The event, held on March 10 in Rio de Janeiro, was attended by special guest Clodoaldo Silva, a Team Nissan mentor.
The book is the result of work done at Gol de Letra reading workshops, and it was written and illustrated by students themselves. It has an informative, interactive and fun format.
The book launch’s two special guests – Clodoaldo Silva, one of the greatest medalists in the history of Paralympic swimming, and Júlio Emílio Braz, an illustrator and writer of children’s books – took questions during the event. Both recounted their experiences in deprived communities and inspired the young audience with their life stories.
The event also featured music, dance and theater performances, led by students, and ended with an autograph session.
“It is gratifying to see what Gol de Letra has been doing for residents of the neighborhood of Caju. Gol de Letrinhas is a sensational book, giving children the opportunity to develop a love of reading and writing. I felt emotional when I imagined what those boys and girls would be doing that Saturday afternoon if they hadn’t been at that event, enjoying access to culture. I was also able to take my daughter along and show her how important it is to help others. She really loved it!.” (Roberta Quintaneiro, Volunteer of Value)
